Button Jewellery - About

All the button jewellery on this site is handmade by me, Helen, in my workshop in North Yorkshire, UK.

I made my first button necklace a few years ago from blue, brown and cream buttons which I selected from my mum's button tin. Friends liked the necklace and asked me to make necklaces for them, too, and suggested I took some to local jewellery shops to see if they would stock them. The shops seemed to like them, so I thought I'd try selling them online too.

The first version of this website was just one page with a few photos of necklaces and 'buy it now!' buttons, which I put up as a placeholder around Christmas 2006 - I was amazed that within two weeks of putting it there I'd had several orders already!

Since then it has grown and grown, with not only button necklaces but also button earrings, button bracelets and button accessories, and more and more colour schemes because I love experimenting with different ones.
