Handmade Jewellery
All of the handmade jewellery on buttonjewellery.co.uk is made using buttons in some way - old and new buttons are fashioned into necklaces, bracelets, earrings, hairpins, brooches, rings, and are they are even featured on hand-decorated gift boxes.
This collection of handmade jewellery is all created in North Yorkshire, UK, by jewellery designer Helen. It all began when she took out her mum's box of old buttons when visiting her parents one spring, and made her first prototype handmade button necklace using these and some fuse wire her dad handed her from his workshop when she was looking for something to string them together with. Once she got her hands on some real jewellery wire, she began to make more of this handmade jewellery for friends, who then asked for more of it as presents for their friends and relatives. From starting with just necklaces, she added bracelets and earrings to the range, and it has grown and grown ever since so that there is now a collection of this handmade button jewellery that features hair accessories, rings, brooches and any other type of accessory that Helen can think of. She also takes commissions - in the past these have included handmade buttonholes for weddings, button headbands, and necklaces, bracelets and earrings in bespoke colour schemes.
